Making it work...

So with all the moving and spending money, I've been a little "creative" how I've been using my money.

It took me right back to those struggling college student days where several of us used to go in on food together, knowing it would last longer that way. I remember riding by four fast food restaurants on the way home one time just to get ketchup packets. Let's not even talk about all the food I "borrowed" from Arby's... lol

My favorite is the Wal-Mart check scam.

Tomorrow, I'll do my grocery shopping, but I'll pay in check. That way, when my direct deposit lands on Friday, the check will land, too..

What say you: What do you do to cut corners when necessary for survival? I know there's some good ones out there!

One thing I remember from college is the power of pasta...u can make a thing of spaghetti and survive off of that for a while. And chicken can be cooked a billion ways...and if u go to a meat market u can get it cheap.

1. Stretch meals...that means dinner leftovers are taken to work for lunch. Buy 5lb bag of potato, buy eggs, buy hot dogs (cheap ones), buy peanut butter.

2. Learn to care for your clothes so that pants can be reworn (minimum 2 x) and shirt should be washed by hand and sat out to dry...this willl stretch wash cycles

3. No junk food or alcohol until we catch up on bills - no cookies, beer, etc.

4. Turn off and unplug all power using appliances - TV, radio, cable box, microwave...fridge should be checked to insure it is at correct level

5. No outside food/take-out..this includes outside coffee/tea

6. No soda/juices during catch-up period...drink water

7. Wake up earlier and walk to public transportation - piggy back on previous blog (weight loss) and save on gas

8. wash your car by hand - if at all

9. withdraw ONLY the necessary money for the week and stick to it...NO additional withdrawls from bank a/c after need-base one-time withdrawl.

10. Don't touch your savings account...NOT FOR NUFIN'...LOL

Hope that heps.

Lord, does Cocoa have enough tips or WHAT? He should have his own segment on The View or something. CR's Tips for all.

Anyway - um, I guess I don't eat out as much. I cook. Hell, I always cook - so I guess that doesn't count. Hmmm - you know what - I don't have a tip the first. Maybe I need to book mark this and follow some tips.
